This year is a new year of cruising with MSC Cruises’ newest flagship, MSC World America. She is the first MSC World Class ship and arrived in Miami, FL on April 7, 2025, before a highly anticipated naming ceremony. To kick off the inaugural season, MSC World America is sailing from the brand new MSC Miami Cruise Terminal homeport.

MSC Cruises selected actress, producer, businesswoman and televisions host Drew Barrymore as the Godmother of its new U.S. flagship, MSC World America. Following her role in MSC Cruises’ Big Game commercial and national brand campaign, Barrymore will continue her partnership with the cruise line with this special recognition. She will be at the officially naming of the ship ceremony in Miami on April 9. “When MSC Cruises asked me to be the Godmother of MSC World America, I immediately said yes!” stated Barrymore. “I absolutely love to travel—it fuels my soul—and being part of something that helps people set off on incredible adventures is just amazing. There’s something so magical about cruises; they let you discover the world in this really fun, unexpected way. And to be able to name MSC World America and send the ship off with well wishes and good luck is such an honor.”

The 3rd Hour of TODAY is setting sail with MSC Cruises in Miami, broadcasting live from the deck of MSC World America on Wednesday, April 9, airing live at 9 a.m. ET. The broadcast will spotlight the ship’s newest dining and entertainment venues along with its world-class amenities including the MSC Yacht Club luxury ship-within-a-ship, an all-new outdoor venue for families, the three-level World Galleria and more.

MSC World America’s arrival also coincides with the ribbon cutting of the MSC Miami Cruise Terminal at PortMiami, the world’s largest and most advanced cruise terminal. Designed by Arquitectonica and built by Fincantieri Infrastructure, spanning four levels, the 492,678-square-foot facility sets a new standard in cruise infrastructure. The new terminal also boasts a six-level garage with over 2,400 parking spaces. There is a dedicated waiting areas, and an exclusive MSC Yacht Club private lounge for luxury travelers.

This cruise terminal features the world’s largest state-of-the-art biometric check-in process for the first passengers to step onboard on April 9. Implementing a digital identity verification allows passengers to check-in online, drop off luggage seamlessly, and pass through advanced facial recognition for a frictionless boarding process.
MSC WORLD AMERICA INAUGURAL CRUISE
There will be a glamorous, star-studded ceremony at the new MSC Miami Cruise Terminal, followed by a two-night sailing to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve before sailing back to Miami.
