A new Panera Bread opened today (May 28, 2013) in Sherman Oaks along the eclectic Ventura Blvd. Known for their specialty salads, sandwiches, variety of fresh soups, delicious breads and bakery items, Panera is a terrific addition to the Sherman Oaks neighborhood.
Customers arrived at 6 a.m. for coffee and the chance to receive a special Grand Opening certificate: Free Bread for a Year. Once a month these lucky winners can go to any Panera Bread Café, choose a freshly baked bread and walk out without having to pay a penny.
What makes Panera different from other fast/casual restaurants is their organic and all natural ingredients. There are no artificial trans fats and the chicken is all-antibiotic free.
I love their unsweetened Acai Berry and tropical hibiscus ice tea. Office workers enjoy the take-out bagel packs or tasty pastry
boxes. There is an espresso bar for those who need a jolt of caffeine before whorl.
Lunch offers cold and warm sandwiches. I enjoy “You Pick 2” where I order a cup of soup with half a sandwich and a generous slice of French baguette.
Each Panera Bread Café offers free Wi-Fi access and comfortable seats at tables with chairs or booths.
Open Mon. through Thurs. 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Fri. through Sat. 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
