While the Los Angeles City Council declared Nov. 10 “Morrissey Day” prior to his concerts on Nov. 10 and Nov. 11 at the Hollywood Bowl, all food venues at the Hollywood Bowl have gone vegetarian for concert goers attending Morrissey’s performances.
Inspired by James Beard Foundation award-winning Chef Suzanne Goin and business partner Caroline Styne, and operated by Sodexo Sports & Leisure, the Hollywood Bowl’s food venues will appeal to vegetarian and vegan concert goers.
Morrissey, a vegan, has been a longtime animal rights advocate and a proponent of a non-meat eating lifestyle. Goin’s menus highlights a falafel burger; a grilled comté cheese with caramelized shallots on Larder Baking Company sourdough bread. They are making avocado toast and a mushroom and Monterey Jack burger at Kitchen 22.
Fare available at Street Foods & Snacks include tacos with cauliflower and tahini yogurt; or with potatoes, raja and cilantro. Even the Hot Dog stand goes all-vegetarian with toppings of avocado crème and pickled onions; red and yellow roasted peppers; or caramelized onions and golden raisins.
For the ultimate Supper In Your Seat experience, Goin’s three-course curated meals with dessert includes Torchio pasta; polenta with wild mushrooms; and a vegetarian Moroccan feast for two will be delivered directly to your seats.
Picnic Boxes include The Hollywood Vegan comes with grilled fall vegetables with chimichurri, farro with winter squash, dates and pepitas, chickpea puree with toasted crostini, olives and almonds & farmers market fruit and berries.
Pre-order Supper in Your Seat and picnic boxes online until 4 pm the day before the performance. The Wine Bar by a.o.c offers a selection of flatbreads; salads; signature farmer’s plate with roasted vegetables, chickpea purée and burrata; artisanal cheese plate along with Turkish quinoa ‘meat’balls; asparagus and parmesan pudding; turmeric-spiced root vegetables; and farro and black rice with currants and pine nuts.
